In 1997, thirty-five women in Malicounda Bambara, Senegal announced that they would no longer subject their daughters to female genital cutting (FGC).
With the knowledge and confidence they gained through the Tostan educational program, these women pioneered a ground-breaking movement—one that in the years since has spread to thousands of communities in West Africa.
Each year, we honor the brave women of Africa through our Malicounda Bambara campaign. This year, our campaign was more successful than ever. To our supporters and friends, thank you so much.
Thank you!
