Special consideration is given to those Career Professionals who have in-depth experiences in the fields of Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Grant-Writing, Human Resources, Information Technology, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Translation (English-French and French-English).
Because Tostan realizes certain specialists bring highly valued skill sets to our work, applications from career professionals do receive preferential assessment from the Volunteer Coordinator. Please be aware, however, that although a career professional's work with Tostan will be tailored to his or her expertise, the application process is the same as that of all volunteers, and it will not always be possible to expedite the application. Furthermore, career professionals wishing to work in Africa will experience much of the same lifestyle as other volunteers there, and thus it may be helpful to consult the Costs & Considerations document and our new FAQ page. Additional stipends may be available depending upon the applicant’s experience and background, Tostan's need, and the length of the stay.
To apply as a volunteer in Africa, please first read the
Costs & Considerations document
and the
Current Openings
page. Then contact
professionalvolunteers@tostan.org
, noting what skills you could contribute to which position(s). This will notify the Volunteer Coordinator that your application is forthcoming; after this, you should visit the Africa Program Volunteer page and follow the instructions for submitting your application.
To apply as a Career Professional in Washington, DC or remotely, please contact
professionalvolunteers@tostan.org
with a description of your background and professional skills and how you feel you could contribute to the organization. Additionally, you will need to submit a letter of motivation, your most current CV or resume, as well as two professional references.
Thank you for your interest in supporting Tostan!
