Adopt-a-Village
 Thanks to the generous support of many donors, Tostan has been able to bring its Community Empowerment Program to thousands of villages across Africa. The program’s reputation for success has inspired many more villages in surrounding regions and nations to request Tostan's nonformal education program for their communities.
The Adopt-a-Village sponsorship program puts the CEP within reach of these motivated communities. Currently, individuals or groups of donors can cover the cost of bringing the Tostan program to communities in Senegal. Community members gain valuable life skills and improve their living conditions, while sponsors can take pride in knowing that they have helped to bring about positive, sustainable change.

Is the program cost effective?
Tostan's program is extremely cost effective. Taking into account only the people directly participating in the program, it costs less than 14 cents per day per participant. And if you account for the hundreds of indirect participants that become engaged through Tostan's organized diffusion model, even conservative estimates place the cost at
only two cents. In addition, Tostan carries out its Adopt-a-Village program in groups of ten communities, maximizing the impacts as regional movements take hold, stretching your support even further.
How much does it cost to support a community?
Tostan's full, three-year Adopt-a-Village program currently costs $12,000, in increments of $4,000/year.
How is the money used?
Your money will fund the complete Tostan Community Empowerment Program. This includes all start-up and materials costs, classes for 60 participants in Tostan's education program, training for 17 Community Managment Committee Members, support for community-led outreach activities, microcredit activities, and much more.
What are the payment options?
Individuals and groups sponsoring a community give $4,000.00 per year. Those who wish to give $1,000 or more per year may pool their funds with other Adopt-a-Village supporters. Currently Tostan encourages those giving less than $1,000 to sponsor a community microcredit project.
Can I/we sponsor a child?
Tostan does not currently offer individual sponsorships through this program.
Will I/we receive information about my village?
Tostan communicates regularly with Adopt-a-Village sponsors to make sure they are aware of program and participant progress.
