Tostan, an internationally recognized US 501(c)(3) organization working to empower communities in Africa, seeks an accountant to assist with accounting and bookkeeping in its Washington, DC office. Hours per week: Full Time, (35 hours a week)
Compensation: $30-35K, commensurate with experience
Direct supervisor(s): Senior Operations Manager
Collaborator(s): Director of External Affairs, Interns, etc
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Day to Day general Accounting
• Posting of entries in the Accounting System
• Reimbursement processing
• Back Accounts Reconciliations
• Maintain fundraising database
• Process donations
Qualifications:
• Must have an Accounting or Finance degree
• Must have thorough knowledge of Quickbooks
• Minimum 2 years experience in Accounting
• Strong communication skills, including written and spoken proficiency in English
• Detail-oriented person
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite required
• Knowledge of Gmail, Google Groups, Google Documents, Google Calendars, and other Internet programs preferred
• Flexibility adapting to a multicultural environment, to be considerate of limited resources, and to adapt work priorities to the immediate needs of supervisor, Tostan, or project partners
